This month marks the fifth anniversary of the founding of the party, and the election of our fourth Chair and Leader.
After two years, Mary Cartwright has stepped down from the role and handed over to Mark Burdon, a Billingham Town Councillor.
Mark said: "I'm grateful to Mary for her hard work and dedication both to the people of Peterlee and to our party.
This is an exciting time.
Voters are increasingly turning away from their traditional loyalties, and looking to elect people who will put their communities' needs first. As the party of the North East, that's what we do.
We invite everyone who believes in a better deal for our region, with more investment and local power, to join us and stand up for North East England."
